Rumors on The Walking Dead video game turn out to be true as the small San Rafael, Calif.-based videogame, Telltale, has been granted exclusive rights to create AMC's The Walking Dead video game, according to All Things Digital.

Telltale has also been granted the rights from Warner Bros. to do a video game based off the comic book, Fables.

That's not all, as these games will be available through download only - and not a hard copy.

As ATD notes, last year saw downloadable content for PCs eclipse sales for boxed versions for the first time.

"Telltale’s games are written as a narrative or a cinematic adventure and are divided into five separate episodes. Players download a new one every four weeks for a six-month period. A season pass for a game, including all episodes, costs roughly $35."

"Telltale then repeats the process and sells the games across a combination of consoles, mobile devices, tablets, PCs and Macs."

Telltale recently released Back To The Future via the same method and is also behind Universal Pictures' "Jurassic Park."

Look for these new games to be released sometime next year through Telltalegames.com and also through various downloading services.
