The Avengers Video Game Needs To Be Done Right Says Marvel

With The Avengers movie being such a phenomenal blockbuster, how come the success of the film didn't branch out into the video game market?
Warner Bros. has had success with the Batman Arkham games, but for Marvel, so far they haven't had one video game that's been really any good.
IGN asked TQ Jefferson, head of Marvel's games, why that is.
The Avengers game will come when we have the right partner, that has the right vision, that has the time to develop a strong, competitive triple-A title and wants to do it right. It has to hit our three pillars: Fun and engaging gameplay, true to the characters, compelling story. Without hitting those notes, we shouldn’t do it. Gamers, they know better. They’re not going to flock to something that’s sub-par.
Jefferson even admits that their previous attempts at Thor and Captain America video games weren't any good, and that they aren't going to launch an Avengers video game just for the sake of it.
I think the fact that there wasn’t an Avengers game turned out in time for the film is indicative of Marvel’s new attitude and the approach to how we find partners and build games. I think in the heyday of the movie licensed game, these games were popping out all the time and most of them sucked.
Absolutely, absolutely. We got a bloody nose on both of those [Captain America and Thor].
We would rather not have a game than to just sign something to have something out on time.
At one time an Avengers game was being developed, which was written by Brian Michael Bendis from THQ. For some reason, the project went belly up. A couple years ago, Bendis mentioned that he wished the game was published.
"The one that haunts me is that I was writing the Avengers game - the THQ game that got canceled," Bendis said. "I have a copy of it at the house, and it was a great looking game. It was a fully immersed Avengers game and the world will never see it. It was a point of view game, which was different than most super hero games, but you could play the game from the POV of Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor, and you could play the game co-op with four of your friends, so you could build an Avengers team and unlock players."
Bendis also said that Hawkeye was "super cool."
Here are some concept images from the game, which featured the Skrulls.
